Retained Ownership
Your domain name, brand identity, copy, imagery, and personal materials remain strictly your property from day one.
Your identity, domain, and content are always yours. Source Buyout provides your project-specific source code when you choose to self-host or transition to an external team.
Source Buyout never means buying back your own identity, domain, brand, or content. Clients retain their existing ownership and licence rights in customer-originated and customer-provided assets, while third-party licensed assets remain subject to their respective licences.
Your domain name, brand identity, copy, imagery, and personal materials remain strictly your property from day one.
Clean, standard web code with zero proprietary runtime lock-in, ready to deploy to your chosen infrastructure.
Receive your complete project source code via Git repository or full source archive along with documented deployment guidance.
Whenever you need to manage your own codebase, self-host on private infrastructure, or work with another engineering team.
When you or your organization maintain private hosting infrastructure and prefer managing technical operations independently.
When you have technical staff to take over development or transition to another provider without relying on Namehouse.
Transfers project-specific source code (via Git repository or complete source archive), media assets, project structure, deployment guide, and one standard deployment verification session.
For Namehouse One websites transitioning to self-hosting.
For Namehouse Signature websites transitioning to self-hosting.
For Namehouse Pro websites transitioning to self-hosting.
For Namehouse Custom websites transitioning to self-hosting.
Custom Package Pricing Rule: For custom-tailored projects, Source Buyout is priced at 50% of quoted project price (applied consistently across all regional markets).
Clear delivery principles to ensure your website operates smoothly and self-sufficiently.
Delivered via Git repository or complete source archive (never compiled-only artifacts). Contains no intentional backdoors, no lockout obfuscation, and no proprietary runtime lock-in.
Independently host and deploy according to documented supported setup; no private Namehouse-only runtime solely to force dependency.
Detailed directory structure, build steps, and environment guidance to empower your developers to deploy and maintain independently.
Reasonable technical guidance and one deployment verification session where practical (does not include unlimited DevOps/DNS services).
Delivery Format & Scope Exclusions: Project source code is delivered via Git repository or a complete source archive sufficient for independent hosting and maintenance. Handover scope explicitly excludes: unrelated repositories, internal administrative tooling/automation scripts, other clients' code or data, shared platform core IP, and private internal server credentials or API secrets.
Clear operational boundaries once your codebase is migrated to your private hosting.
Following handover, the client assumes full responsibility for: hosting infrastructure, deployments, DNS and environment configuration, third-party subscriptions and licenses, backups, dependency upgrades, security, operational monitoring, and future compatibility.
Website Care/Care+ services conclude upon completed handover and do not continue automatically. Any prepaid entitlement or refund treatment follows the applicable commercial agreement. You maintain complete autonomy over operations.
Re-entry into Care is possible but not automatic or guaranteed; it requires a technical review (remediation may be quoted separately; Namehouse may decline if incompatible). Source code is delivered based on actual project state; no absolute guarantees (such as 100% bug-free, flawless security) or separate legal transfer instruments apply.
Key considerations before purchasing your standalone codebase.
Never. Source Buyout never means buying back your own identity, domain, brand, or content. You retain existing ownership and licence rights in customer-provided assets, and third-party licensed assets remain subject to their respective licences. Source Buyout is a one-time purchase of project-specific implementation code so that you or your engineering team can host, modify, and maintain the site independently.
Whenever you or your organization want to manage source code on private infrastructure, transition to an in-house engineering team, or work with another development partner without relying on Namehouse management.
Clients assume full direct responsibility for: hosting costs, deployment pipelines, DNS records, environment configuration, third-party subscriptions/licensing, regular backups, dependency upgrades, cybersecurity, performance monitoring, and future platform compatibility. Basic web engineering knowledge is required to maintain the codebase.
Once project source code is handed over and migrated, Website Care operated by Namehouse concludes and does not continue automatically. Any prepaid entitlement or refund treatment follows the applicable commercial agreement.
Re-entry is possible to consider but is never automatic or guaranteed. Any return request is subject to a technical review. If the site was materially modified outside Namehouse management, remediation or re-onboarding may require a new quote, and Namehouse reserves the right to decline if technical conditions are incompatible.
Project source code is delivered via Git repository or complete source archive (never compiled-only files), accompanied by deployment documentation. Handover assistance covers reasonable guidance and one deployment verification session where practical (does not include unlimited DevOps/DNS services or migration guarantees for every hosting provider).
